CEF Chicago Team Member: Angela Bailey

Missionary-Area Ministry Coordinator Intern Colossians 1:10 "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: Bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God." The past 11 years have been spent running an Insurance Agency. After participating in Chicagoland '08 last year, my life was changed. A revelation was brought before me that I could not ignore. After our church, Crossroads of Hillside partnered with Child Evangelism Fellowship hosting 5-day clubs at our homes, I saw firsthand the faces and hearts of the children hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I too hungered to learn more of His word and grow to be more like Him. There is a special need for our children today, and I am honored to have the Lord work through me to help prepare our future leaders of tomorrow...God's way! Since becoming full-time with CEF, on October 1, 2009, I have been busy doing the Lord's work. -Our second semester of Good News Club has started at Sunnyside Elementary School, this club hosts 22 children eager to hear the Gospel. This is one of the 43 clubs that CEF coordinates throughout Chicagoland. -Met with the Superintendant of Hillside School with hopes to start a Good News Club there, waiting for update. -Spoke with Principal of Jefferson School in Bellwood with hopes of also starting a Good News Club there this year, also awaiting update. -Raising Ministry Support and Prayer Partners -Taking TCE1, Teaching Children Effectively, a 13 week course that provides increased knowledge about the spiritual needs of children, effective methods of evangelism, skills for organizaing and conducting children's Bible classes. A vital part of our learning consists of in and out of class practicum's. I also enjoy teaching at the various Training Workshops, showing others how to conduct Good News Clubs. Thank you for viewing my blog, please check back for updates. Please PRAY for all these events.

News Update from CMI, Warrenton, MO

Good evening and blessing to you all,

Pastor Mike and Theresa, thank you for your prayer on Saturday, it is a blessing to have this wonderful support system, I thank God for you everyday. You all have made this journey positively joyous, and I can’t express how grateful I am to have the Lord place me with my Birth family who Prays with and for us constantly, my Crossroads family, and my CEF family. After we spoke, we did have a situation that required God’s grace.

Please pray for Jordyn. Late Saturday evening she was having trouble breathing and I had to take her to the emergency room. It was a scary time for both of us as the hospital was 18 miles away and it was dark and raining. The Lord gave us the strength to make it and get the care she needed. We do not know what brought it on. The Doctor diagnosed her as having musclespasm as her lungs swelled making it almost impossible to breathe. They had her on a breathing machine and it opened her passages within 10 minutes. The Doctor also gave her an inhaler, and antibiotics for the inflamation or infection that resulted from this incident. We are to follow up with her primary care doctor for further evaluation. Since we will be down here for three months, we found a Pediatrician in the area. The Doctor indicated that this may be a temporary illnes and the prescriptions may clear up what ever caused the inflamation, or if there are reoccurences, it may be that she has asthma. Perhaps climate, perhaps something she ate, perhaps environmental changes with our new living quarters…it is unknown but she is feeling better.

On Sunday, Praise God, we were able to attend Church and give thanks for his grace and mercy. Everyone down here is reaching out and praying for us and we are grateful. Jordyn is getting more and more comfortable with school and making new acquaintances. We had a wonderful surprise today, Ken and Sharon came down and stopped in for lunch, it was beautiful to see loving faces from home. We are so blessed and so excited at this opportunity to grow in Christ. We are learning so much and looking forward to sharing all that we learn with all who will hear.

Today in class, we had 6 children come in for the Teaching Little Children class, and they took part in a full GNC lesson for ages 2-8, this was much different from the GNC we normally teach, the language was totally different, but the message was the same. This class involved more activities due to the attention span for this age group. It was awesome, and challenging. All that you do for older children had to be changed so that the younger group received and understood the message. WOW!!!!!!!

Attached are some fun photos Jordyn on her first day of school waiting for the bus to go to her new/temporary school Warrior Ridge Elementary, she misses her Teacher and friends. Also, see two photos of the children and the Instructors. See the children as they lay on cots experiencing what it would feel like to be like the lame man, Lazarous. How about that for teaching.

We Love You all and Miss You,

Angela and Jordyn

P.S. Theresa, here are our five verses for the week.

Matthew 18:6, Matthew 18:14, John 3:15, Acts 16:31, 2 Peter 3:18, 1 Cor 15:3 and 4, Romans 3:23, John 3:16, Eph 2:8. Wow, just sending these verses to you gets me all excited remembering what they mean.

Just Breathe…..

Jordyn and I are doing just that! Taking deep breathes as we start this wonderful journey at CMI – Children’s Ministry Institute. Please continue to PRAY for us, it is challenging to be away from what we know as home, our family and friends. The good news is that we have been welcomed and we are making new friends and making this our home for the next three months. God knows what he is doing and I don’t question Him. Just looking forward to the wonderful work he is doing in me.

It’s the weekend and guess what, I have lots of homework. Today in class we went over how to deliver the wordless book to preschoolers. If you think it should be easier than delivering to the older children, I’m here to tell you, it isn’t. It takes a lot of thought and preparation, you have to speak in a language that they understand, which also involves so many other factors to create a package so that when the invitation is given they know what has been presented to them. What an awesome experience. One that I look forward to sharing with our younger children.

I am also excited to share that on Wednesday, I will be teaming up with other CMI Instructors and students, for the GNC at Warrior Ridge Elementary School here in Warrenton, Missouri. So to my team of Leaders back in Illinois, I won’t be out of practice.

Love ya and I’ll check in soon.

I’m checking in and hope you are too!

I sit in awe today as I reminise on our All Mighty Lord and Savior. He is incredible beyond all we could imagine. His will be done!!!! Thank you Prayer Partners, Thank you Donors, Thank you Team workers, Thank you Crossroads family, Thank you CEF family, Thank you friends and family, and Thank you God!

This week at Good News Club, we had 15 students as we began our 5-week lesson about Patriarch’s. Hebrews 11:8 “By faith Abraham, when called…obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” That is the memory verse we taught this week. The teaching goal is “tust God to keep His promises.” We know that he will because His word says so, go ahead and read it for yourself. Try Romans 8:28, and should you need anymore assistance, please call on me I welcome the opportunity to share God’s wonderful message. We encouraged the children to stay in God’s word everyday and speak to him everyday, that is how you form an intimate relationship with Him. It is great to see that the children were receiving the message and understanding it. As we asked our review questions, they were able to answer correctly. Here is one of the questions. “What does it mean to trust God’s promises? They answered “depend on God to do what he says.”

It just brought joy to the Leader’s hearts. God is working and each day, we can see His loving grace pouring down on us.

Thank each of you for your prayers and for partnering with me. Your Love gifts provided me an opportunity to attend the Children’s Ministry Institute in Warrenton, MO. January 20, will be the first day of a three month series of courses. I will keep you posted on this spectacular Biblical growth opportunity.

Ok my friends, I’m going to lay down and have pleasant dreams about our Savior, and the wonderful life he allows for. Please continue to pray for the children that as we continue to teach them, they begin to look even futher into God’s word so that they may be more Christ like.

Love ya, and as always check back for more updates.

Here Lies our Future!

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

Well we are on our way to another year “2010″. Another opportunity to reach children for Christ. Over the Christmas and New Years holiday, I spent time with my family. We prayed and gave thanks for the past year and the year ahead. I am looking forward to the new challenges of sharing the gospel with many, many more children this year. Please PRAY with me that lives are changed for God’s glory. Please also PRAY that our world which we live in recognizes that all things can only be done through Christ who strengthens us. And that he is the light and the way!

PRAISE REPORT!! I’ve been asked to take on the responsibility of Youth Director at my church “Crossroads Church of Hillside”, of which I humbly accepted. To be considered for such an important duty is an honor. It is a blessing to have God work through me in such a way that my Pastor, his Wife the Deacons and other Church Members have witnessed the growth and have faith that I can be a valuable part of the Church team. It is incredible to be used in this way.

May God continue to richly bless and keep you as he is doing in me. He is an awesome God!

Closing Thought: Matthew 18:6
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

This is one example of how God feels about his children, and why we are to let them come to him and teach them the way to go.

Love Angela

Awesome Thursday!!!!

he shall teach you all things,: and “he will show you things to come”

gnc 12.17.09

We had 17 children today for our Christmas Party Lesson, “The Message of a Star”. An incredible lesson about how God would use stars to get new messages to people, particularly the wise men of the Bible. And how today God no longer gives us a new message through a star. The secret to understanding more about God is to obey what He tells you in the Bible, and His Holy Spirit will help you understand new things from God’s word. How amazing.

Today, one young girl said to me, I took a permission slip to give to one of my friends, and she said no thank you, because my Mom will say no, she always says no. The young girl, a child of Christ said please take it and believe! Because God can change anything, they might change their minds and say yes. Her friend said ok and took the permission slip. God is working in the lives of these young children. Stay tuned for more updates.

Today’s memory verse: Jeremiah 29:10 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”.

Hooray…I Passed my TCE1 Class

This is why I do what I do………:children across america ……..Our Future Leaders.

Today was the last day of TCE1 (Teaching Children Effectively Class) and I passed! As mentioned a few months ago, this class has equipped me to Lead A Child to Christ, Coordinate Good News Clubs effectively, conduct a Bible Lesson, and teach memory verses using simple, yet effective ways of memorization. It has been a wonderful class and I am looking forward to attending Children’s Ministry Institute (CMI) to become even more equipped to spread God’s word and impact lives of children across the land.

Thank you for your PRAYERS and your partnering. Where I am, you will be too, as we spread the Good News to all who hear.

Blessing for an amazing season with the Lord.

Good News Club Update

Yes, Lord, Yes, Lord, Yes Yes Lord. You all know that song. We had a yes Lord time today with the children. We broke up into small groups and spent a little get to know you time. I learned that two of the chilrden had accepted the Lord some time ago and are children of God. One of them wants to someday be with her father, who she believes is in heaven. She currently lives with her mom and misses her dad very much, so much, it is still a very sensitive discussion. Another student, lives with her Mom and has 4 sisters and 4 other brothers and she loves the Lord and wants all the family to be together.

In looking at the getting to know you responses, all of the children have high ambitions some want to be astronaunts, doctors, veteranarians, teachers, construction workers, handymen, basketball players, and even a President and yes someone said a Missionary like me. They understand that God wants them to live as the Bible teaches and that hard work and committment are necessary to reach these goals. The Bible tells us “I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me” Phil 4:13.

Take a look at some of the responses when we asked them to write down what they believe God wants them to do. To pray to him, to help others, to please Him, how about that! These children had some very…yes Lord answers and this makes our Lord and Savior proud.

Next week is the last session before the winter school break and we will be hosting our Christmas party lesson. The Message of A Star, it is a beautiful Christmas story, that the children and leaders will enjoy. I look forward to sharing more good news from the Good News Club.

We are asking for PRAYER partners and are enlisting all our friends and famlly to continue to pray for us as we move into the holiday season, PRAY that as we start back up in January, we will have even more children to hear the gospel. Last, but certainly not least, we passed around the “God can”. Here is where the children can place their prayer requests on a sheet of paper, place them in the God can and we then pray for their specific requests. Here are some prayer requests to be lifted up. god can now

*prayer to be a great kid and to be saved
*prayer that God will be their savior
*prayer for their sin
*prayer for their Mom
*prayer for the sick to get better

Please lift these requests up in prayer and PRAY for continued spiritual growth.

Be Blessed! from your Good News Club
Al, Angela, Connie, Jerry, Len, Linda, Mattie and Roosevelt

Please PRAY for the wonderful team of Leaders of the Good News Club who have partnered so that the word of the Lord continues to be spread.

Traveling to Michigan for support raising workshop

girlsWe left out today heading toward Michigan for a training workshop on support raising. Many of us are underfunded as we have been called to go out and preach the gospel. This is one of the toughest responsibilities in doing Gods work. The joy of teaching others who God is, is what we find honor in, however God tells us in many scripture verses that this too you must do. As we are traveling nearly 3 hours to Michigan with one of our newest additions to our CEF family, little William wanted us to sing lullibies to him, and we found joy in doing so. Singing all the carols of this blessed season that we could think of. Well we are here now and our wonderful friend Megan and her friend Jessica welcomed us with dinner and fellowship. They provided sleeping quarters for us at the camp where the workshop is being conducted at 8:00am tomorrow morning. That reminds me I better get some sleep so I can take in a the information that will be provided for us. Check back shortly for updates. Love and goodnight.

Update on TCE1 Class

Angela TCI1

105002603[1]This is an incredible experience.  The eye opening information that I am learning brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart, as I revel at the ways to teach children effectively.  It all makes sense.  The syllabus for Level 1 TCE teaches the ingredients for leading a Child to Christ, scripture memorization and just how important the Teacher is,  just to name a few.  It confirms that if we as Teachers are not prepared, we can not expect to prepare our children.  The teaching methods are simple yet effective.  Bible history facts are being taught on a level that is engaging as well as informative.   It stimulates your mind, creativity and understanding of God’s word.  Providing a whole new appreciation and love for learning God’s word.

For more information on this class and others, please visit cefonline.com click on the training tab or contact me at 708-860-1098 and I can provide you with current class information.
