Chances are there is probably a school right in your neighborhood or near your church. Whether the school is public or private, you can organize a Good News Club by following these 10 steps for adopting a school:
10 Steps to Adopt a School
- Meet with the Missions, Outreach or Senior Pastor of your church. Present the concept and view the video available through CEF.
- Choose a Good News Club team and a Coordinator. For best results include someone whose child goes to your chosen school.
- Have a team meeting with CEF staff to discuss responsibilities, details and costs.
- Attend the Basic Training Good News Club Workshop in your area to obtain materials to approach your school and to teach your club.
- Visit the principal of your targeted school to request a room, details for school use and ability to pass out permission slips.
- Leave information with the school Principle on CEF and Good News Clubs provided by CEF.
- Promote the Good News Club in your church service and Sunday schools and develop a prayer team for the club.
- Be sure all club personnel have filled out the CEF policy sheet and return them to your director.
- Distribute permission slips and promote your club wherever children and their parents might see.
- Make preparations for your club, the teaching materials, snacks, hand-outs, record keeping etc.
Begin your club and Have Fun!
